Q:  What are your thoughts on riding bitless vs. with a bit?

A:  It is up to the horse to tell us what tool he understands and is most comfortable with. I believe we should do as much as we can in the beginning without a bit, so we save the mouth from big mistakes. My general guideline is that the bit is a tool of refinement, and so should be used to make something that is already working well, work even better. I do not use nosebands to close the mouth, the mouth needs to be free to move. If the mouth is open we need to find the cause.

I wonder if there are more articles about:  bitless
