Q:  What are your thoughts on barefoot horses?

A:  I believe the hoof is healthiest when barefoot. A barefoot trim allows itself to be maintained regularly to achieve maximum quality. A barefoot trim is a special trim that can restore and preserve the health of a hoof through increased circulation, better management of concussion, thicker hoof walls and more protective soles. Our breeding has not selected for healthy hooves, so not all horses can go barefoot on all surfaces at all times. A barefoot specialist should be consulted, but owners should learn enough to be able to maintain. I personally trim all my horses' feet, and I have professionals check on me.

I wonder if there are more articles about:  barefoot
